My responsibility in Pipedrive was to own the design of all lead generation tools in the company as well as manage and grow Pipedrive’s design team in Prague. What started as an experimental feature is now an entire suite of tools enjoyed by over 90 000 companies worldwide.
Inbox is the cornerstone of the whole leads offering. A place to keep all your leads that allows you to quickly follow up, prioritize and work with hundreds of leads at the same time.
All the data of the lead generation tools end up in the inbox where (from the design perspective) the biggest challenge was to create an efficient yet complex tool that supports the customer through the entire lead journey from creation to closing the deal while allowing the user to work with multiple leads at the same time.
One of the challenges was to convert already existing users into using Leads services. In order to do this, I have drastically changed the installation of new services (while keeping similar design language) through multiple rounds of design iterations and user testings to achieve a frictionless onboarding of these new tools.
The first released tool was an easily customizable chatbot that can automatically route and qualify leads. We have later on enhanced these tools to also support a livechat so that sales professionals can seamlessly pick up conversations on the web or in the mobile app to qualify leads started by a Chatbot.
The engineering team behind Leads was fairly small. We needed to think twice where we want to use our limited inhouse resources. That is why we have formed a strategic partnership with a London based outbound lead generation tools and create a hybrid between a brand new product and a direct integration. This way we were able to create a flawless user experience that our customer base expected and at the same time use tech and know-how of one of the biggest players on the outbound lead generation market.
With this product it was crucial for me to find a fine balance between a fully custom design and reusing already existing components from our partners in order to penetrate the market as soon as possible with ideally the least amount of resources.
When I joined the company I was one of the very first people in the Pipedrive Prague branch. My goal was not only to create a brand new range of products but also grow a design team that would support this vision.
This was an amazing ride starting as a lonely designer on a green field and growing the team to 5 designers across 3 different locations taking care of a wide range of lead products. I have vastly increased the speed of the hiring process and was lucky enough to work with a team of amazing designers who I believe have grown in their profession significantly while being part of my team.
